The Skys – Liderzy litewskiego rocka progresywnego

Zespół The Skys jest przedstawicielem litewskiej sceny rocka progresywnego, który zdobywa dużą uwagę za granicą. Powstał w połowie lat 90-tych. Od samego początku liderem zespołu jest gitarzysta, wokalista i kompozytor Jonas Čiurlionis, a w 2008 roku do zespołu dołączyła kompozytorka Božena Buinicka (wokale, klawisze).
Ich muzyka to prawdziwa klasyka rocka progresywnego – pełna nostalgii, psychodelicznych wibracji i wpływów takich zespołów jak Eloy, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Alan Parsons. W twórczości The Skys słychać również elementy bluesowe i klasycznego rocka. Charakteryzują się rozbudowanymi kompozycjami oraz świetnie zaaranżowanymi piosenkami, które łatwo zapadają w pamięć. Wokalne pojedynki między Jonasem a Bożeną dodają utworom unikalnego charakteru – jego charyzma i lekka chrypka kontrastują z jej niemal dziewczęcym, mocnym głosem.
Ich debiutancki album "Civilized" z 1997 roku zyskał uznanie wśród fanów. Z biegiem lat The Skys stali się jednym z najbardziej cenionych litewskich zespołów rocka progresywnego za granicą, a ich unikalne brzmienie łączy klasyczne elementy tego gatunku z nowoczesnymi akcentami. Album zespołu "Colours of the Desert" zyskał ogromne uznanie wśród krytyków i słuchaczy. Jest to materiał, który znakomicie brzmi jako całość. W produkcji i miksie pomógł im John Young, znany ze współpracy z takimi artystami jak Fish czy Scorpions. Gościnnie na albumie wystąpili m.in. David Kilminster (Roger Waters Band), Tony Spada (Holding Pattern), Snake Davis (Eurythmics, Ray Charles) i Anne-Marie Helder (Mostly Autumn, Panic Room).
Ostatni album, "Automatic Minds" (2019), został nagrany w Los Angeles i Londynie, z udziałem takich artystów jak India Carney (Top 5 programu The Voice), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), Snowy White (Pink Floyd), Neil Taylor (zespół Robbiego Williamsa) oraz Justin Klunk (zespół Ariany Grande).
Muzyka The Skys charakteryzuje się złożonymi kompozycjami, dynamicznymi zmianami tempa i nastroju oraz głębokimi tekstami, które poruszają takie tematy jak ludzka egzystencja, poszukiwanie sensu i relacje między człowiekiem a wszechświatem.

The Skys – Leaders of Lithuanian progressive rock

The Skys are representatives of the Lithuanian progressive rock scene, which is gaining a lot of attention abroad. They were formed in the mid-90s. From the very beginning, the leader of the band has been guitarist, vocalist and composer Jonas Čiurlionis, and in 2008, composer Božena Buinicka (vocals, keyboards) joined the band.
Their music is a true classic of progressive rock – full of nostalgia, psychedelic vibrations and influences of bands such as Eloy, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Alan Parsons. In The Skys' work, you can also hear elements of blues and classic rock. They are characterized by extensive compositions and well-arranged songs that are easy to remember. The vocal duels between Jonas and Bożena add a unique character to the songs – his charisma and slight hoarseness contrast with her almost girlish, strong voice.
Their debut album "Civilized" from 1997 gained recognition among fans. Over the years, The Skys became one of the most appreciated Lithuanian progressive rock bands abroad, and their unique sound combines classic elements of the genre with modern accents. The band's album "Colours of the Desert" gained huge recognition among critics and listeners. It is a material that sounds great as a whole. John Young, known for his work with artists such as Fish and Scorpions, helped them with the production and mixing. Guest appearances on the album include David Kilminster (Roger Waters Band), Tony Spada (Holding Pattern), Snake Davis (Eurythmics, Ray Charles) and Anne-Marie Helder (Mostly Autumn, Panic Room).
